Fictiv has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by MISUMI, a global supplier of configurable and off-the-shelf industrial components. The deal, which is subject to regulatory review, marks a significant step forward in the evolution of Fictiv’s mission to revolutionize custom manufacturing through digital infrastructure.

Founded over a decade ago, Fictiv was built with a vision to make hardware development as agile as software. The company has focused on reducing the cost and time required to bring products to market, empowering engineers and innovators to tackle challenges in fields ranging from aerospace and robotics to clean energy and medical devices.

Fictiv is set to be acquired by MISUMI, enhancing its mission to revolutionize custom manufacturing and digital infrastructure. Throughout Fictiv’s growth, customer needs have consistently shaped the company’s roadmap, leading to innovations in AI-powered workflows, a robust global manufacturing network, and the development of regionally distributed teams of manufacturing experts.

To date, Fictiv has produced over 35 million prototypes and production parts for startups and enterprise companies alike, serving as a trusted partner across various industries. The company’s platform streamlines sourcing and manufacturing of custom mechanical components, enabling teams to innovate faster and with greater efficiency.

The acquisition of Fictiv by MISUMI represents a strategic alignment of shared values and complementary strengths. MISUMI, headquartered in Japan, is renowned for its vast product catalog and ability to configure over 80 sextillion different part types using digital selection tools. With 22 manufacturing facilities and 20 logistics centers worldwide, MISUMI delivers on its promise of high-quality components and global scalability.

“MISUMI’s infrastructure and capabilities are world-class,” said Dave Evans, CEO and co-founder of Fictiv. “Joining forces allows us to scale faster and extend our impact further than ever before. This partnership supercharges our ability to influence the future of manufacturing positively.”

Fictiv and MISUMI aim to unite the digital and physical aspects of manufacturing. Their combined offering will provide a single platform to source both custom and standard parts, delivering unmatched speed, price, and quality. This seamless integration enables engineers to create comprehensive bills of materials (BOMs) without compromising on supplier access or efficiency.

According to Evans, “We believe that access to advanced manufacturing should be democratized. Together, we’re making it easier, smarter, and more accessible for organizations everywhere to bring their ideas to life.”

The announcement highlights how the acquisition positions Fictiv to accelerate innovation and impact in sectors driving the future—robotics, automation, climate technology, healthcare, and more. As the global supply chain continues to evolve, Fictiv and MISUMI are stepping forward to lead the transformation.

“This marks an important step toward a future where building breakthrough products is no longer constrained by traditional manufacturing barriers,” Evans added. “We’re incredibly proud of what Fictiv has achieved, and even more excited about what lies ahead.”
