Many expressed skepticism and it seems ages ago when founder Cornelius Schmidt reached out to VoxelMatters (then 3dpbm), to exclusively reveal his revolutionary Zellerfeld 3D printed shoe project. Now, after printing thousands of pairs for both early adopters and some of the world’s best brands (Louis Vuitton, Moncler), Zellerfeld is openng its platform to everyone.

Starting tomorrow, anyone can upload their 3D printed shoe design to the Zellerfeld platform and sell their own shoes within minutes on zellerfeld.com. The company expects that by year’s end over 1,000 new designs and silhouettes will be avaialble for on-demand purchasing.

These include $10 Slots, where, instead of full upfront payment, users can now reserve a print slot, switch design anytime before production, and pay the remaining balance when printing. Full Transparency enables users to see their slot and exactly where they are in the print queue. More customer support, a pain point according to some users, will result significantly faster response times.

The product will also be further enhanced, with improvements in terms of fit, durability, and comfort. Plus, to get rid of sock-clinging Zellerfedl is introducing a more premium feel with a proprietary printed textile that will be fully unveiled in the next couple of weeks.
