# Xometry appoints prominent AI figure Lukas Biewald to board

[Xometry, Inc.](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/xometry/) has named co-founder and former CEO of Weights & Biases and current Senior Vice President of AI Initiatives at CoreWeave, Inc., Lukas Biewald to its [board of directors](https://www.voxelmatters.com/xometry-appoints-roy-azevedo-to-board-of-directors/).

Biewald, a prominent figure in artificial intelligence, has been appointed as a Class I director with a term running through the 2028 annual meeting and joins the [Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee](https://www.voxelmatters.com/xometry-adds-ranjana-clark-to-board-of-directors/).

Biewald co-founded Weights & Biases, an AI developer platform that grew to more than one million engineers worldwide before CoreWeave acquired it in 2025. Earlier in his career, he founded Figure Eight — formerly CrowdFlower — a machine learning data platform, and held positions including Senior Scientist at Powerset and head of the Search Relevance team at Yahoo! Japan. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University.

[Randy Altschuler, CEO and Co-founder at Xometry](https://www.voxelmatters.com/xometry-names-sanjeev-singh-sahni-as-ceo/), explained how Biewald's background provides a natural and direct application to the company's direction: “Lukas has spent his career building the platforms that AI teams actually rely on during production, most notably at Weights & Biases, where he helped establish the system of record for how the world's leading teams train and deploy models.
