Wi3DP Next Gen to host all-women virtual aerospace panel
Virtual event takes place March 23, 2021 from 7-9pm EST
As a follow-up to its inaugural “Meet the Stars of 3D Printing” event in January, Women in 3D Printing Next Gen is preparing to host “Meet the Stars of 3D Printing: Aerospace Edition”, a virtual panel with women speakers representing leading aerospace companies and organizations, including Airbus, NASA, Raytheon and Northrup Grumman.
The two-hour event, to be held on March 23, 2021, aims to put to the spotlight on women working within the intersecting aerospace and AM fields and to showcase career opportunities for the next generation of women. Sanjana Narayanan, Head of Wi3DP Next Gen Career Development and a high school student, said: “We want to help our next generation of 3D printing workforce understand the applications, opportunities and challenges awaiting for them if they decide to take a step into this direction.”
Narayanan will be moderating the aerospace-focused event, which will bring together a panel of four women: Celina Gratton, Project Manager at Airbus; Colette Fennessey, Associate Director of Additive Manufacturing at Raytheon; Sarah Ludeman, Additive Manufacturing Engineer at NASA; and Anna Sailor, Principal Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer at Northrop Grumman.
“I am excited to be a speaker in the Women in 3D Printing Next Gen panel as it gives me the opportunity to connect with like-minded women, and hopefully, I can help inspire young women in STEM wanting to work in the field of Additive Manufacturing,” commented Airbus’ Celina Gratton.
The event comes on the heels of the first “Meet the Stars of 3D Printing” event, which was held in January 2021 and featured speakers from LEGO, Tapestry, SpaceX, New Balance and Facebook. It has been a busy start to the year for Women in 3D Printing: in addition the Meet the Stars of 3D Printing events and its regular program, the global organization hosted the first ever additive manufacturing event featuring a speaker list made up entirely of women, TIPE 3D Printing. The event, which you can read more about here, was an overwhelming success with 147 speakers and over 1,600 attendees.
