WAAM3D and National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia have signed a memorandum of understanding at the Singapore Airshow to establish wire arc additive manufacturing capabilities at the MyAERO Centre.

NAICO positions the initiative as part of a broader push to strengthen domestic aerospace manufacturing capacity and talent pipelines. Initial plans include deploying a miniWAAM cell and an engineering skills program focused on production use cases, according to public posts from NAICO and company materials.

Two weeks before the airshow, on January 22, 2026, WAAM3D completed installation and commissioning of two WAAM systems at the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) facility in Disputanta, Virginia. The deployment comprises a RoboWAAM system featuring the company’s patented G-MAX process and an open WAAM system using the GMAW process.

WAAM3D reports that both systems passed acceptance testing for performance against design specifications, software integration, and industrial reliability, with the CCAM site now serving as a hub for demonstrations, process development, and collaborative research. Coverage from trade media on January 29, 2026, corroborates the installation details.

Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing produces near-net-shape metal parts from wire feedstock using an electric arc, offering potential time and material savings on large structures. WAAM3D states that the RoboWAAM platform using G-MAX can exceed 15 kilograms per hour in deposition rate, depending on configuration and application, a claim previously documented during the company’s CCAM membership launch. Neither the CCAM update nor the Malaysia MoU discloses financial terms, deployment timelines in Malaysia, target alloys or certification plans.
