VulcanForms, a leading metal additive manufacturing solution provider, has closed a significant $220m funding round in what it says reflects “growing demand for secure domestic production of next-generation metal products”.

The Massachusetts-based company reported that the financing round – led by Eclipse and 1789 Capital – was oversubscribed, as it seeks to accelerate its growth in the US and build on its claimed position as the US’s first fully integrated digital metal manufacturing platform.

Supply chain fragmentation and geopolitical influences causing trade disruption have both contributed to circumstances that have increasingly opened the opportunity for VulcanForms to consolidate complex, multi-step supply chains into neatly integrated, domestic, production-grade digital-led factories capable of manufacturing at scale.

VulcanForms operates two facilities just outside Boston, which offer an integrated end-to-end workflow involving advanced metal additive manufacturing technologies, precision machining, automation, inspection, and proprietary AI-enabled software. The company claims to have large multi-billion dollar commercial programs, and offers its services across a range of markets, including medical devices, consumer products, aerospace, defense, and industrial

The latest intake of capital will fund a continued drive around R&D, materials portfoli,o and expansion of its facilities.

“American manufacturers need a domestic alternative that can compete with global production, at scale with superior speed and precision,” stated Kevin Kassekert, CEO of VulcanForms. “This financing enables us to meet surging demand and expand our role as a critical partner to companies rebuilding resilient domestic supply chains.”

“Their platform brings production of mission-critical components back onshore with unmatched precision, speed, and reliability,” said 1789 Capital’s President, Omeed Malik. “Eclipse is proud to back a team that is delivering real industrial output today while shaping the future of American manufacturing.”
