Vulcan launches MX Series of metal 3D printers
The lineup - starting at $39,000 - includes eight models powered by multi-laser configurations
Vulcan, a US-based entity commercializing Chinese-made metal AM systems, has introduced the MX Series, a new generation of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) metal 3D printers designed to make industrial additive manufacturing accessible to businesses of all sizes. With prices starting at $39,000, Vulcan now offers some of the world’s most affordable metal 3D printers.
The MX Series intends to bridge the gap between traditional machining methods – which are affected by tooling costs, long lead times, and material waste – and the demand for lighter, faster, and more complex parts from industries like aerospace, automotive, medical, and energy.
The lineup includes eight models, from the compact MX100 – well-suited for precision parts in limited spaces – to the large MX800, featuring an 800 x 600 x 900 mm build volume for high-production environments. Six intermediate models provide a clear path to scale from small labs to industrial facilities.
Each MX printer uses high-power lasers to fuse fine metal powders into dense, high-strength parts. Layer thicknesses range from 20 to 120 microns. Finished components often require little post-processing, significantly cutting lead times.
The systems support a wide array of materials, including titanium, cobalt-chromium, copper alloys, stainless steels, and aerospace-grade aluminum, enabling production of everything from medical implants and dental restorations to turbine blades and automotive structures.
The MX Series incorporates multi-laser configurations for faster builds, closed-loop powder handling for safety and waste reduction, and automated calibration with intuitive software that minimizes training time.
From the entry-level MX100 to the high-capacity MX800, the efficiency of Vulcan’s systems is designed to deliver a rapid return on investment, often reportedly achieving full payback within months by reducing outsourcing, material waste, and per-part costs.
The MX Series combines industrial-grade precision, flexible material options, and pricing that democratizes access. Vulcan’s technology positions metal 3D printing as a standard production method for modern manufacturers seeking speed, efficiency, and design freedom.
