US Department of Defense to Hold Military Additive Manufacturing Summit

The Military Additive Manufacturing Summit will be held at the University of South Florida’s CAMLS Center, located in Tampa, FL, on February 7-8, 2017. With talks by several senior level officers, and Concept Laser as Gold Sponsor, the summit discussions will revolve around this year’s theme of “Leveraging Innovative 3D Printing Capabilities to Strengthen America’s Defense.”

The Department of Defense is exploring innovative ways to provide Warfighters with the parts and supplies they need during an era of budget constraints, aging equipment, and growing international complexity. To further reduce supply chain limitations and production costs, the US Government has invested a substantial amount of time, effort, and money into developing a potentially game-changing new industrial technology, additive manufacturing.

DSI’s Military Additive Manufacturing Summit will focus on advancing the DoD’s ability to deliver greater operational flexibility to Military Leaders and Warfighters in the deployed environment through enhanced additive manufacturing technologies and on-demand printing concepts and capabilities. This two-day Summit will occur on February 7-8, and will be held at the University of South Florida’s CAMLS Center, located in Tampa, FL.

General Ellen Pawlikowski

– General Ellen Pawlikowski, USAF, Commander, Air Force Materiel Command. The AFMC is allocated $60 Billion dollars annually and is responsible for the management of all Air Force weapons systems, as well as the AF maintenance enterprise.

– Vice Admiral Philip H. Cullom, USN, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, Fleet Readiness and Logistics. VADM Cullom is the senior Naval Officer in charge of Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Executing (PPBE) logistics to ensure optimal levels of readiness across the US Navy.

– LtGen Michael G. Dana, USMC, Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics. The Deputy Commandant is responsible for overseeing all USMC logistics matters and is tasked with formulating the Marine Corps logistics plans, policies, and concepts. In this discussion, LtGen Dana will identify several opportunities to leverage 3D printing to create a more flexible and expeditionary force that can be sustained in hostile, resource scarce environments.

– Jerry McGinn, Principal Deputy Director, MIBP, OUSD AT&L. The MIBP provides oversight of America Makes – the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute – and is tasked with leveraging commercial/non-traditional tech suppliers and DoD-sponsored manufacturing institutes to expand additive manufacturing tech capabilities.

– MG Edward F. Dorman III, USA, Director, J4 Logistics & Engineering, CENTCOM. The J-4 Directorate provides Logistics and Engineering policies to support operations across the Middle East Theater. MG Dorman will brief on utilizing AM capabilities to solve challenges specific to CENTCOM’s AOR.
