Uniparts and PartsPlex provide 3D printed automotive repair
Offering 3D printed headlight repair tabs to the Canadian market thanks to an exclusive supplier agreement with Auto Additive
Uniparts, a provider of automotive parts in Canada, has partnered with PartsPlex, a 3D printed headlight repair tabs supplier, to enter an exclusive supplier agreement with Auto Additive catering to the Canadian market. As the official and exclusive agent for PartsPlex, the Uniparts team will bring new sustainable technology to the Canadian Collision Industry with a growing line of 3D printed Auto Parts and Collision industry repair tools from Auto Additive.
These weldable headlight tabs have only been made possible due to recent advancements in 3D printing technology and the evolution of 3D printed OEM-compatible polypropylene material.
“This 3D printed material and process that is in line with GM’s GMW18647 worldwide standards provides the durability and compatibility needed for high-quality automotive repairs, ensuring that the new tabs meet or exceed current industry practices for repairing headlight tabs, such as using two-part epoxy, industrial-grade welding rods, shaping putty, or low-grade printed parts,” stated Auto Additive.
“This is a very exciting time to be in the repair industry. With Auto Additive’s 3D Printed Weld-On Polypropylene (PP) Tabs, you get material and durability of the original parts without the need for complete replacements,” said John Donald, Key Account Manager at Uniparts.
“Sustainability is the future. Thousands of parts fill our landfills every year. If we can provide a solution to repair more parts, sourced closer to their point of repair, we create a more sustainable ecosystem in the collision repair industry. Our goal is to help shops improve profitability, [and] reduce consumer claim costs while keeping sustainability top of mind,” said Mike Kaplaniak, President of Uniparts.
