Ultimaker opens new Singapore office to serve APAC region
Benjamin Tan is appointed as Vice President Asia Pacific for Ultimaker
3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker has just announced the opening of a new office in Singapore. The new facility will cater to the APAC region in response to an increasing demand for Ultimaker 3D printers there. The news marks an important expansion for the Dutch 3D printing company, which has been manufacturing desktop machines since 2011.
To lead its new Singapore office, Ultimaker has appointed Benjamin Tan, the former Channel Director at Dassault Systèmes, as its Vice President Asia Pacific. Tan rightfully believes that there is huge potential for additive manufacturing in the APAC region.
Singapore alone has become an important hub for AM technologies, with its prominent National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) program aiming to encourage companies across many industries in Singapore to explore and adopt 3D printing. Singapore universities such as the National University of Singapore have also been enthusiastic proponents for AM technologies.
“There is a greater understanding of additive manufacturing in Asia Pacific,” commented Tan. “We will leverage our business development efforts to target AP multinationals, and work closely with them to improve the supply chain. It is not only the perfect alignment between accessible and reliable hardware, software, and materials that distinguishes Ultimaker from all of its competitors. Earlier this year, Ultimaker announced the release of its newest and most refined 3D printer model: the Ultimaker S5. In line with its open materials ethos, the company also announced it would be partnering with a slew of leading chemical companies to develop new 3D printing materials compatible with its desktop 3D printers.
