Ultimaker opens new Singapore office to serve APAC region
Benjamin Tan is appointed as Vice President Asia Pacific for Ultimaker

3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker has just announced the opening of a new office in Singapore. The new facility will cater to the APAC region in response to an increasing demand for Ultimaker 3D printers there. The news marks an important expansion for the Dutch 3D printing company, which has been manufacturing desktop machines since 2011.
To lead its new Singapore office, Ultimaker has appointed Benjamin Tan, the former Channel Director at Dassault Systèmes, as its Vice President Asia Pacific. Tan rightfully believes that there is huge potential for additive manufacturing in the APAC region.
Singapore alone has become an important hub for AM technologies, with its prominent National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) program aiming to encourage companies across many industries in Singapore to explore and adopt 3D printing. Singapore universities such as the National University of Singapore have also been enthusiastic proponents for AM technologies.
“There is a greater understanding of additive manufacturing in Asia Pacific,” commented Tan. “We will leverage our business development efforts to target AP multinationals, and work closely with them to improve the supply chain. It is not only the perfect alignment between accessible and reliable hardware, software, and materials that distinguishes Ultimaker from all of its competitors. The open, innovative spirit of its employees and strong Sales Partner Network has also contributed in bringing the company to its global leading position. I am very happy to be part of this team.”
Jos Burger, CET at Ultimaker, echoed Tan’s excitement, saying: “3D printing is not only used for prototyping anymore. It is a reliable and accessible technique that is now causing the next revolution in manufacturing. This is already visible in the strong business cases from leading global companies, such as Volkswagen, Ford, Jabil, Decathlon and Bosch. These enterprises all use Ultimaker 3D printers to work smarter and speed up their innovation.”
“We see a growing demand for Ultimaker 3D printers in the APAC region from similar enterprise clients and innovative SMEs,” he added. “By opening office facilities in Singapore, we can better manage these demands locally, and support our well-established APAC Sales Partner Network in taking the next step in accelerating the world’s transition to local digital manufacturing. I am very happy to have Benjamin Tan on board in Singapore. His long-standing experience and impressive network in the industry make him the right person for this role.”
Earlier this year, Ultimaker announced the release of its newest and most refined 3D printer model: the Ultimaker S5. In line with its open materials ethos, the company also announced it would be partnering with a slew of leading chemical companies to develop new 3D printing materials compatible with its desktop 3D printers. We spoke to Paul Heiden, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Ultimaker, about the company’s announcements and future plans for growth.
Finally, with the launch of its new Singapore office, Ultimaker has announced the availability of new job opportunities with the company.
