TissueLabs, a Swiss company specializing in biofabrication technologies, has launched TissuePro, a new extrusion-based bioprinter designed for advanced applications in regenerative medicine, drug development, and related fields. The release builds on the success of the company’s earlier system, TissueStart, which became a widely used entry-level platform for labs exploring tissue engineering.

“TissuePro is the result of everything we’ve learned, reinvented and reimagined,” said Dr. Gabriel Liguori, Founder and CEO of TissueLabs. TissuePro is currently available for pre-order, with deliveries scheduled to begin in August 2025.

TissuePro features five independent piston-driven extruders, each capable of dispensing with 0.1 μL precision. Unlike pressure-based extrusion systems, piston-based extrusion minimizes the need for ongoing calibration, allowing users to focus on designing and producing complex biological structures.

The platform also integrates Mixtrusor, TissueLabs’ proprietary mixing module, which supports simultaneous extrusion of multiple bioinks, enabling the fabrication of heterogeneous tissues with controlled gradients and layered compositions.

The system supports multi-material printing with five independent printheads, including coaxial and triaxial capabilities. It also includes a built-in photocuring module with five wavelength options (365nm, 405nm, 450nm, 530nm, and 810nm) to accommodate different material formulations. The printheads and printbed offer thermal control from 4°C to 60°C, allowing a wide range of materials to be processed under consistent conditions.

Automation tools are included to coordinate multi-head operations, simplifying workflows that typically require manual setup. TissueLabs positions the system as both high-performance and user-friendly, aiming to support researchers across disciplines such as tissue engineering, cancer research, organ-on-a-chip development, soft robotics, cultured meat, and pharmaceutical testing.
