Thyssenkrupp and Impact Labs open Metal Point to provide metal AM services

As reported by the Jerusalem Post, the new center was inaugurated during a recent visit to Israel by Dr. Alexander Orellano, a member of the board of directors of Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems. Metal Point will benefit from the support of the Economy Ministry, the Manufacturers Association of Israel, the Israeli Institute of Metals at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and other agencies that encourage innovation in advanced manufacturing.

“We regard the economic strengthening of Israel with innovation and entrepreneurship as an important goal,” Orellano said. “The establishment of a first-of-its-kind 3D metal-printing innovation center will allow Israeli start-ups and industrial companies to enhance their position in the international market. The strategic collaboration with Impact Labs is a significant example of ThyssenKrupp’s commitment to the long-term relationship with Israel.”

Through the production of parts and products in 3D metal printers, various possibilities are now, for the first time, open to designers, engineers, designers and hardware developers within a more accessible makerspace setting such as Impact Labs.

The various raw materials and metal, together with complementary processing capabilities (post-processing), make the center unique in Israel and provide holistic and unique solutions to research and development teams or companies and individuals looking to develop prototypes, small series and critical parts of the industry that result in a short and high-quality supply chain.

Metal Point will also hold and produce professional and practical courses in 3D printing in general and metal 3D printing in particular. The significant advantage of in-depth learning of the metallurgy and 3D printing field in metal that includes hands-on experience in the production floor and learning and using the machines themselves is invaluable.
