Progold’s decade-long exploration into metal additive manufacturing has led to extraordinary advancements in powder optimization, alloy design, and laser parameters. Their team has studied every variable—from particle size distribution to semiconductor additives such as germanium and silicon—to achieve superior density, surface quality, and print resolution.

By pushing resolution below 100 microns, reaching an impressive 68 microns, Progold demonstrates how SLM can deliver exceptional precision and stability in 18K gold printing. The result is a new generation of high-definition jewelry that blends artistic complexity with mechanical strength and environmental responsibility. This advancement doesn’t just compete with traditional lost-wax casting—it surpasses it, enabling lightweight, detailed, and resilient designs that reflect the evolution of fine jewelry manufacturing.

## Analog Lab’s Amano+ project

Design meets technology in Thomas Lehman's presentation as founder and director of design at Analog Lab SRL. With studios in Milan and Seattle, Analog Lab merges craftsmanship and technology through projects that defy convention. Lehman’s Amano+ collection exemplifies this fusion, combining the human touch of handcraft (“Amano,” meaning “by hand”) with the forward momentum of 3D printing (the “+” symbolizing innovation).

Developed in collaboration with Legor and HP, Amano+ introduces one of the world’s first fully 3D-printed stainless steel watch collections, produced using HP’s metal binder jet technology. Each piece embodies Italian precision and global design excellence, post-processed through CNC machining, hand-finishing, and meticulous assembly. The unique textures and structural forms achieved through AM make every watch truly one of a kind, while recyclable materials and reduced waste showcase the project’s sustainable ethos.

For Analog Lab, Amano+ is not just a product—it’s a philosophy. It redefines modern horology by balancing advanced engineering with the soul of craftsmanship, reflecting a new standard for creativity in luxury design.

## Tech Print Industries’ vision

Rounding out the panel, Lucas Friedfeld, Operations Specialist at Tech Print Industries (TPI), takes a closer look at the rapidly evolving eyewear sector. TPI has become a pioneer in democratizing eyewear design through Additive Manufacturing. By replacing traditional factory models with digital workflows, TPI empowers designers and brands to prototype, customize, and produce frames on demand—eliminating the need for molds, tooling, and inventory.

Through inspiring collaborations like Minima, Journey Frame, and boutique smart eyewear creators, TPI demonstrates how AM unlocks new design freedoms and economic efficiencies. Their approach reduces production costs, accelerates time-to-market, and enables small designers to compete globally without sacrificing creativity. Looking ahead, TPI plans to launch a new software platform in 2026 designed to make eyewear design even more accessible, driving innovation at the intersection of technology and individuality.
