# Tethon 3D acquires Fortify IP portfolio to strengthen ceramics and RF materials platform

[Omaha-based ceramic specialist Tethon 3D](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/tethon3d/) acquired a portfolio of intellectual property assets from the now-dissolved [3DFortify, a venture-backed materials company previously known for its work in high-performance composite and dielectric materials](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/3dfortify/). The deal brought Tethon patents and enabling technologies centered on anisotropic composite structures and advanced material processing methods, extending the company's technical foundation in ceramics into RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave (mmWave) component fabrication.

Tethon and Fortify had previously collaborated as industry partners exploring advanced materials and next-generation manufacturing technologies before the acquisition.

"This acquisition is part of a broader strategy to build the leading advanced materials platform in our industry," said Trent Allen, Chief Executive Officer of Tethon 3D. "We are focused on identifying and integrating technologies that enhance our ability to develop and scale high-performance ceramic materials for real production environments."

Allen added that the prior working relationship with Fortify's team informed the decision. "Fortify developed compelling technologies around high-performance composite materials," he said. "We see significant opportunity to build on this work and integrate these innovations into Tethon's advanced technical ceramics capabilities."

Tethon has continued to invest in proprietary materials, process development, and manufacturing capability, with a focus on sectors where technical performance and reliability are critical requirements. The Fortify IP absorption extended that strategy into composite and dielectric material systems.
