# Tekna passes 1 million kilos of titanium power produced

[Global leader in advanced materials and plasma atomization systems Tekna](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/tekna/) has produced its millionth kilo of spherical Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy powder, 10 years after it began industrial production of the product.

After developing its titanium atomization process in 2015, the production quickly moved to a 24/7 operation, and [the Ti64 powder range](https://www.voxelmatters.com/tekna-receives-cad-1-6-million-order-of-lpbf-titanium-powder/) has since gone on to receive REACH (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals) certification in the EU and RoHS compliance.

The Canadian company has also had its ISO 13485:2016 certification for its Advanced Materials division renewed.

The certification, first obtained in 2022, is an internationally recognized standard establishing quality management system requirements specific to the medical devices industry.

“We are proud to announce the renewal of our ISO 13485 certification, reaffirming our commitment to the highest standards of quality, regulatory compliance, and patient safety. This achievement reflects the strength of our quality management system and the dedication of our team to continuous improvement,” stated Claude Jean, CEO at Tekna. 

“Maintaining this globally recognized certification reinforces the trust our customers and partners place in us and underscores our ongoing commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality materials to medical customers.”

The recertification audit, conducted by NQA, ran for one week and covered Tekna's manufacturing site, human resources practices, purchasing procedures, equipment maintenance, and laboratory operations. It remains valid until January 2029.

“The ISO 13485 certification enables the acceleration to penetrate the market by facilitating our product qualification, providing further momentum in a favourable market environment,” added Rémy Pontone, Executive VP of Materials.
