Techstars announces three 3D printing startups in next 10 for STANLEY Accelerator

The STANLEY + Techstars accelerator has become one of the key programs for young and innovative startups, especially in the 3D printing segment. Past editions have seen the participation of companies such as Castor, Collider and Kwambio, at different locations around the US. Last year the Stanley Black & Decker Accelerator was introduced in Hartford, CT. Many companies of that first class, which focused solely on additive manufacturing, have already been making an impact and have gone on to expand and raise additional capital. Four are based in Hartford.

The organizers have further assessed the program’s focus and expanded their efforts to work with companies across the advanced manufacturing vertical, with an emphasis on those working on innovations in additive manufacturing and sustainable packaging. In 2018, Stanley Black & Decker signed a pledge with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in an effort to “help build a more sustainable world,” and the program has now been adjusted to work with startups who also share that goal.

In selecting this year’s class, STANLEY + Techstars organizers viewed applications from over 30 countries and accepted companies from Spain, Germany, India, Texas, New York, Boston, and California. While in venture investing, statistics indicate that only approximately 3% of funding typically goes to female-led companies, this year nearly half of our companies have a female founder. All of the 10 companies were selected for their have the potential to disrupt industries and change the world for the better.

These are the ten startups that will now move to Connecticut for the next 13 weeks:

Accelerate3D

Has developed, AMCELL, the first automated industrial hybrid AM machine for mass production

Tuffel
A company focused on building the next generation of power tools

Umeleon
Providing customized filaments for FDM printers on demand

WOMP
An AI-powered platform for generating, interacting and making objects.
