TECHART GTstreet R Flyweight features 3D printed seat cushions

Ultimate. Uncompromising. Limited to 19 units. The new lightweight super athlete TECHART GTstreet R Flyweight is based on the Porsche 911 Turbo S with racing technology for track day enthusiasts. TECHART is presenting the spectacular and individually manufactured TECHART GTstreet R Flyweight range from March 21 at the Bangkok International Motor Show. As demonstrated by the advanced 3D printed custom seat padding developed by TECHART and OECHSLER, this also marks the start of the new performance division, TECHART Flyweight, with comprehensive upgrades for Porsche owners who are enthusiastic about circuit racing.

Since 1987, TECHART customers worldwide have had a large selection of customization options for their Porsche vehicles. Based on the founding year, the now sold-out GTstreet R program was limited to 87 copies. With the TECHART GTstreet R Flyweight model, limited to 19 units, based on the Porsche 911 Turbo S, the international premium brand completes the digits of its founding year.

Derived from professional sports competitions, Flyweight refers to athletes in the lightest and most technically adept weight classes, who are characterized in particular by their precision, speed and agility as well as endurance in the ring. The same values ​​are decisive for the development of all TECHART Flyweight programs and products.

We can hardly wait for our customers to experience it for themselves – both on the most demanding racetracks in the world as well as on the street.”

Sophisticated aerodynamics

The new technical solutions of the TECHART GTstreet R Flyweight in the areas of aerodynamics, lightweight construction and chassis are particularly striking. During development, the TECHART engineers had a clear focus on optimizing the performance of the individualized super sports car for use on the racetrack, without neglecting everyday usability.

The aerodynamic highlights of the limited TECHART GTstreet R Flyweight based on the Porsche 911 Turbo S include the pronounced, fixed carbon fiber front splitter, which divides the incoming air and generates additional contact pressure. Lateral air guide fins with integrated canards and a molded carbon fiber underbody complete the front splitter. Among other things, with the help of digital flow simulations, the downforce could be significantly increased and the aero balance optimized. To protect the front splitter when used on the race track, the component has integrated grinding plates.

The new TECHART carbon fiber fender with wheel arch extensions has been equipped with even more efficient and distinctive air outlets. An essential aero element: the iconic Carbon GTstreet R Flyweight rear wing consisting of a newly developed and weight-optimized carbon fiber body with a fixed wing, lateral charge air inlets, newly formed wing end plates and a manually adjustable wing profile. The angle of attack of the upper wing profile can be adjusted in three stages, allowing the aero balance to be optimized depending on the track layout.

Weight optimization as a maxim. The standard locks of the TECHART carbon fiber front hood and the carbon tailgate panel have been replaced by quick-release fasteners for the GTstreet R Flyweight. The lightweight polycarbonate rear window specially developed by TECHART can be recognized by the characteristic Flyweight trademark and replaces the window of the base vehicle.

TECHART and OECHSLER redefine Flyweight Clubsport interior.

The large number of functional lightweight components characterize the flyweight concept both on the outside and in the interior. The characteristic TECHART Flyweight DNA continues from the racing decor on the exterior to an elaborately individualized interior made by hand. Exclusive finishes include bold contrast stitching and the hexagonal pattern of Flyweight DNA, as well as alternating embossing and meticulously crafted tonal embroidery of the Flyweight symbol on door panels, seats, dashboards and center armrest.

Eye-catcher in the interior: for an intensive and controlled driving experience with optimal support even in the limit area, TECHART relies on RECARO Automotive, the seating specialist par excellence for drivers with an affinity for motorsport. Each GTstreet R Flyweight will be equipped with a TECHART individualized RECARO Podium CF performance seat as part of the Clubsport interior. With a weight of only 4.9 kilograms per seat shell, it is not only light as a feather but also becomes a handmade one-off in the TECHART manufactory with hand-painted elements and Flyweight-specific embroidery and embossing.

The seat pads developed together with OECHSLER, one of the innovation leaders in the field of additive manufacturing, are also new. The 3D printed seat cushions on selected areas between the driver and the seat shell allow a new level of customization – precisely tailored to performance-oriented drivers and their personal GTstreet R Flyweight. Another advantage: the 3D-manufactured seat pads ensure even better passive ventilation and damping properties, but at the same time also result in additional weight savings.

The TECHART Flyweight Clubsport package, consisting of a TECHART roll bar, TECHART 6-point harness with FIA homologation and hand-held fire extinguisher, ensures maximum safety. The omission of the rear seats, an optimized parcel shelf with carbon inserts and lightweight carpet for reduced noise insulation contribute to further weight optimization and intensification of the driving experience in the interior. The GTstreet R Flyweight is designed to use head and neck support systems. The TECHART interior of the TECHART GTstreet R Flyweight is rounded off by an individually refined steering wheel with a 12 o’clock center marking and painted trim parts.

The TECHART GTstreet R Flyweight enters the ring with a weight saving of around 60 kilograms compared to a comparably equipped series model. Despite the additional safety features and without sacrificing everyday comfort. Every customer has the choice between visible carbon parts with a matt or high-gloss finish, complete paintwork in matt or glossy, special or effect colors and can design a personal vehicle decor together with the TECHART design team. Thanks to the craftsmanship of the TECHART manufactory, there are no limits to the personalization of the interior.

Maximum power and agility

For an unleashed performance, TECHART has given the GTstreet R Flyweight program a special power boost in the form of the TECHART Powerkit TA092/T2.1. The upgrade package consists of optimized TECHART turbochargers, sports air filters, and reinforced diverter valves in connection with a specially tuned software for engine and transmission control.

With a spectacular 588 kW (800 hp) and 950 Nm total output, the high-revving Ring hero accelerates with a significantly improved response compared to the production vehicle. The sprint to 100 km/h takes just 2.5 seconds and to 200 km/h in an impressive 7.5 seconds and only ends at a top speed of more than 350 km/h.

Perfect traction and precise handling right up to the limit with technology partner Öhlins. The coilover suspension with specific TECHART Flyweight tuning is adjustable in height as well as rebound and compression and enables a tight setup suitable for the race track.

An optimized wishbone bearing on the front axle ensures more precise and direct wheel control. This exploits the full potential of the grippy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.

Weight discipline also with the wheels: the newly developed Formula VI Race Flyweight forged wheels have even slimmer spokes and additional weight savings in the hub area. The dimensions of the new rims: are 9.5 x 20 inches ET 25 on the front axle and 12 x 21 inches ET 68 on the rear axle. The weight per rim is 9.8 kilograms at the front and 11.2 kilograms at the rear. This means a reduction in the unsprung mass of 2.6 kilograms on the front axle and 2.2 kilograms on the rear axle compared to the Formula VI Race.

The hand-welded GTstreet R sports exhaust system with electrically adjustable exhaust flaps results in another 2.8 kilograms saved compared to the series.
