Among the highlights of the gala evening, Melissa Orme, Vice President of AM at Boeing, was inducted into the TCT Hall of Fame for her long-term contributions to additive manufacturing, through academia, tech startups, and corporate executive leadership. On the academic front, she was an early pioneer in the field of 3D printing of metallic parts resulting in 15 US patents concerned with novel AM methods using molten metal micro-droplets and novel methods of customizing the size distribution of metallic powders.

Melissa joined Morf3D as Chief Technology Officer, focusing on AM of metallic components primarily for the Aerospace and Defense Industry. In that capacity, she guided the company’s AM technology development and strategy. In 2019, she joined The Boeing Company as Vice President of Additive Manufacturing and in this capacity continues to grow and scale additive manufacturing capabilities delivering value to Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Boeing Defense and Space, and Boeing Global Services.

Brigitte De Vet-Veithen, CEO at Materialise, was recognized as the Women in 3D Printing Innovator for her significant contributions to the industry. She dedicated the award to all the employees at Materialise and emphasized “the importance of collaboration in our diverse and complex industry. By working together – she said – we can build a more harmonious ecosystem and make it cost-effective for manufacturing companies to produce high-quality final parts at scale. Let’s continue to join forces to overcome the challenges our customers face and drive the future of 3D printing forward.”

Charlotte Bridgewater was also celebrated as the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation Rising Star, while Andy Christensen, founder of Medical Modeling, and Max Lobovsky, co-founder and CEO of Formlabs, were also inducted into the Hall of Fame.

In the Aerospace & Defence Application category, Boeing won with its Phased Array Antenna Cold Plate, while AM hardware leader EOS stood out in multiple awards. EOS North America’s Bauer Hockey Helmet earned high commendation in the Consumer Product Application. In addition, the AMCM M290 FLX with nLIGHT lasers, developed with Optoprim, AMCM (part of the EOS Group), and Ohio State University, was recognized in the Non-Polymer Systems category.

The Automotive & Rail Application award went to Airtech Advanced Materials Group for its Closed-Loop Motorsport Tooling, developed with Oak Ridge National Lab, The Brumos Collection, and Verus Engineering. Using recycled materials from redundant molds, a carbon-fiber aerodynamic splitter mold was manufactured using a Thermwood 1040 LSAM 3D Printer. This splitter played a pivotal role in enhancing The Brumos Collection’s GT2 RS Clubsport, producing more downforce and enabling the Brumos Racing Porsche to set a new world record as the fastest car in its class.

Rapid Fusion’s PE320 Pellet Extruder, created with Xtrution, Ai Build, Adaxis, and KUKA, won in the Polymer Systems category, while Dyze Design‘s Pulsar Atom Pellet Extruder received high commendation. Another interesting winning application came from Arburg, with the Personal Fit Breast Prosthesis, developed with Hashtagtwo, which won the Healthcare Application award. This innovative method for 3D printing of silicone material via Arburg 3D printers could prove to be a game changer across multiple application areas.
