Voxeljet just released drone video footage of its headquarter in Friedberg, in the greater Munich area. Zooming through the different parts of the voxeljet HQ facility it is possible to catch a glimpse into one of the largest on-demand service center for sand, PMMA and HSS 3D printed parts, along with systems assembly.

The facility includes a sand 3D printing area for sand molds and foundry cores, another massive area for PMMA binder jetting systems for investment casting, and a third area that hosts the new VX1000 HSS machines, the largest thermal polymer powder bed fusion systems in the market today.

Overall, voxeljet’s 3D printing services can deliver anything from polymer models to plastic patterns or molds and cores for metal casting or finished castings, right through to effective outsourced industrial production of small and medium-sized components and sand mold series.

Leveraging over two decades of experience in industrial AM, voxeljet offers 3D printing on-demand services with production capacities of over 4,700,000 liters per year (in Germany alone). In addition, voxeljet runs service centers in the USA and China.

The High Speed Sintering (HSS) systems have been developed by voxeljet for the high-performance production of precise polymer parts with plastic injection molds of comparable quality and durability. In contrast to conventional processes, sintering is not carried out using complex laser technology, but with pixel accuracy using heat-reactive binders. High-Speed Sintering is therefore reliable and robust, extremely fast and it ensures high output even with large-volume objects. This process supports the use of a wide range of polymers, including PA12, PP, TPU, PEBA and also EVA.

The core of voxeljet’s offer is its Universal Binder Jetting (UBJ), a 3D printing technology developed for producing high-precision sand, PMMA and ceramic prints. For example, for the industrial production of sand cores for metal casting. In contrast to conventional processes, the binder is processed inline in the machine with pinpoint accuracy.

For controlled results with dynamic inline inkjet technology, the machines can react agilely to the special physical requirements of components. All 3D printing systems rely on high-quality, specially developed print heads designed for 24/7 operation. Components can range from 300 x 200 x 150 mm³ to 4,000 x 2,000 x 1,000 mm³. Casting volumes of up to approx. 80 tons of casting weight have been realized at the voxeljet HQ.
