SWISSto12 secures €73m in funding, to be used predominantly for HummingSat
European Space Agency member states provide the funds as part of Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems (ARTES) HummingSat Partnership Project
SWISSto12, a leading provider of advanced Radiofrequency (RF) products and telecommunication satellites, has secured €73 million ($85.2m) in funding, which will be used to accelerate the development and industrialisation of HummingSat, for scaling up its manufacturing capacity and boosting new product innovations.
Additionally, the company secured funding from European private investors in the second half of 2025, which brought its total raised to more than €100m ($116.7m).
“The recent subscriptions of Member States and Cooperating States at the ESA Ministerial Council to the HummingSat Project, and the latest round of funding from European private investors sends a strong message to the global market that SWISSto12 is at the heart of satellite communications innovation,” stated Emile de Rijk, CEO and Founder of SWISSto12.
“With our growing suite of agile, cost-effective, and highly performant SatCom solutions, we provide a credible answer to some of the most pressing challenges facing the space economy, including the critical issue of enabling satellite sovereignty – something, until now, out of reach for most of the world’s nations.”
SWISSto12’s RF components carry patented 3D printing technologies and associated RF product designs, and the company aims to accelerate the transition of the global satellite communications industry.
HummingSat – roughly the size of an industrial washing machine and weighing in at around 1,000 kg – offers a smaller, more cost-efficient GEO platform. Its design leverages SWISSto12’s proprietary, space-qualified additive manufacturing and advanced RF systems to boost payload performance and compress production timelines and cost.
