SUR3D Launches New Decoded Mass Customization App for 3D Printed Jewelry

Stay up to date with everything that is happening in the wonderful world of AM via our LinkedIn community.

Sur3D is the South American startup that created Selva 3D, one of the most intuitive and fun to use web apps ever made, to rapidly create custom consumer products ready for 3D printing. The company is now moving on up with its new Decoded app, currently in beta testing, which enables users to create a range of highly customized jewelry to then get it professionally 3D printed in metal and delivered.

The online customization app includes three different options, all very intuitive and fun to play with: monograms, maps and voice based customization tools.

The monogram lets users create pendants using as many as three letters, and choosing from two fonts. The voice tool goes even a step farther in terms of personalization, letting users record an audio and creating pendants based on the voice or sound wave. For example you could record the voice of someone you love, a friend or even a newborn sono/daughter and keep it always with you. Finally, my personal favorite, the map, let’s you select a location anywhere in the world and transform it into a beautiful pendant.

All jewelry is then 3D printed on demand. Users can choose between silver, rose and yellow gold plating, or bronze. Prices range from $120 to $140 and are calculated instantly by the web-app’s engine.

“The first time we saw a 3D printer in action, we knew that we’d dedicate the rest of our lives to this technology. It was love at first sight. This is how Sur3D started. After 3 years of hard work and a wise navigation on the industry, we developed a set of technologies that have been used on over 180 countries and are processing 1000+ graphic computations on a daily basis.”

Sur3D empowers retail environments to offer custom product creation experiences live in store. By applying in store manufacturing technologies the Sur3D software tools enable full customization and in store production, transforming the whole 3D design/3D printing (CAD/CAM) process, from a large set of tedious steps into a super straightforward 2 click experience.

The Sur3D web-apps are created to eliminate 3D printing complexity by building simple and enjoyable end to end 3D printing experiences, tailored to clients needs. As a result the company generates interactive design stations where customers are able to create one of a kind personalized products, right in front of their eyes.

“Our mission is to make the wonders of 3D printing available to everyone. Our job is to introduce new 3D printing experiences where people can create one of a kind products without any design or modelling experience needed. Together we can go from from being regular consumers, to being true creators.”

Victor does not really exist. He is a pseudonym for several writers in the 3D Printing Media Network team. As a pseudonym, Victor has also had a fascinating made-up life story, living as a digital (and virtual) nomad to cover the global AM industry. He has always worked extra-hard whenever he was needed to create unique content. However, lately, as our editorial team has grown, he is mostly taking care of publishing press releases.
