# Stratasys wins $27.6 million verdict against Bambu Lab in first of two patent trials

A federal jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division, awarded [Stratasys](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/stratasys/) approximately $27.6 million in past damages after finding that Shanghai Lunkuo Technology Co. Ltd., Tuozhu Technology Limited, Shenzhen Tuozhu Technology Co. Ltd. and [Bambulab Ltd](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/bambu-lab/). wilfully infringed four of its 3D printing patents. U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap presided over the week-long trial, which concluded on September 18, 2026.

The verdict closes the first of two patent infringement cases Stratasys filed against Bambu Lab in the same court. Stratasys filed the original complaint on August 10, 2024 (case number 2:24-cv-644), naming six Bambu-related entities and alleging that the company's X1C, X1E, P1S, P1P, A1 and A1 mini printers used patented technology covering heated build platforms, force detection and purge towers without authorization. The jury found four patents valid and infringed in this trial: US 9,168,698 and US 10,556,381, both covering force detection during fabrication; US 9,421,713, covering purge towers in additive manufacturing; and US 7,555,357, covering extrusion-based layered deposition systems. Stratasys' two 2024 suits allege infringement of ten patents combined; a claim tied to a fifth patent from this first case, along with the whole second case, has yet to go to trial.

The verdict follows a parallel fight at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where Bambu Lab petitioned to invalidate several of the patents Stratasys asserted. The Patent Trial and Appeal Board found claims in Stratasys' heated-build-platform patent, US 9,592,660, unpatentable, while ruling against Bambu Lab on US 9,421,713, a decision Bambu Lab has appealed to the Federal Circuit. Both companies declined to comment on this verdict. The jury's award covers past damages only; no injunction has been issued and Bambu Lab's printers remain on sale.

Stratasys framed the win as a defense of its patent portfolio against the consumer and prosumer FDM market that Bambu Lab has come to dominate. "Stratasys remains focused on delivering cutting-edge technologies to customers and protecting the intellectual property that underpins our innovation," the company said in a statement.
