# Stratasys launches flame-retardant FDM material for rail and transportation applications

[Stratasys](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/stratasys/) has introduced FDM PA6/66-GF30-FR, a flame-retardant composite thermoplastic developed for rail and transportation manufacturers producing certified end-use and spare parts. The PA 6/66 base polymer is reinforced with 30% glass fiber, delivering higher stiffness and strength than polycarbonate flame-retardant (PC-FR) alternatives and positioning it as a competitor to ULTEM 9085 resin. The material also meets EN 45545-2 HL2 (R22/R23) and FMVSS 302 fire safety requirements, making it suitable for load-bearing, functional rail components. Stratasys stated that the material’s compatibility with SUP4050B breakaway support structures reduces post-processing time for end-use part production.

The material was developed in response to ongoing collaboration with railway OEMs and service providers, addressing demand for production-ready additive manufacturing solutions that meet compliance, performance, and cost-of-ownership requirements.

## Rail sector adoption

The surface finish is exceptional and directly reflects the quality and performance of the parts.”
