# Spectroplast closes Series A financing round led by HZG Group

[Spectroplast AG, a developer of innovative materials](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/spectroplast/) and applications for silicone 3D printing, has successfully closed its Series A financing round. As a new investor, [HZG Group led the round](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/hzg-fund-management/) for the Swiss start-up. Existing investor AM Ventures also participated in the round. Spectroplast plans to use the fresh capital to intensify existing customer relationships and to establish its patented silicone materials in other industries.

The range of materials available for 3D printing has diversified considerably over the last few decades. Silicone materials have long been an exception - especially for delicate parts. Spectroplast, [a spin-off from ETH Zurich](https://www.voxelmatters.com/eth-zurich-rapture-project-developing-multi-material-lpbf-for-rockets/), fills this material gap in industrial 3D printing with its products and services for silicone AM.

“We are delighted with the confidence shown in us by [the two most prominent VC investors in 3D printing start-ups](https://www.voxelmatters.com/axtra3d-completes-its-9-75m-series-a-round-led-by-hzg-group/). With HZG Group, we have not only secured fresh capital for further company growth but will also benefit from important entrepreneurial impetus from industry pioneers who have established metal as a completely new material for industrial 3D printing. Similarly, we want to establish silicone and the world of elastomers in the industry," said Dr. Pablo Hafner, Chair of Spectroplast AG.

“With Spectroplast, silicone is becoming a high-end polymer for the 3D printing industry. We believe in this theme, in the management team and their expertise in consistently exploiting the many positive material properties of silicone for 3D printing. Thanks to its chemical structure, silicone has a high biocompatibility and is very resistant to environmental influences and temperature," said Dr. Florian Bechmann, CTO of HZG Group.

"We are very pleased with [Spectroplast's successful financing round](https://www.voxelmatters.com/spectroplast-1-38m-seed-funding-round/). The HZG Group is an experienced investor that will provide valuable impetus for the company's strategic development and intensify cooperation in a key technology of the future. Together with the strong team in Zurich, we want to fully exploit the transformative potential of silicone in industrial 3D printing and drive Spectroplast's expansion into new markets," said Johann Oberhofer, Managing Partner of AM Ventures.

“With Spectroplast, customers can have their first component in just a few days,” said Dr. Pablo Hafner. “We plan to significantly expand our product ranges in the future and offer completely new solutions for the most demanding applications. The fresh capital will help us achieve our goal of becoming a global leader in [the 3D printable silicone industry](https://www.voxelmatters.com/lumia-x1-to-support-truesil-x50-100-silicone-material/).”
