Solebox, a European leader in streetwear retail, is partnering with Zellerfeld, a pioneering 3D printed footwear brand. The collaboration brings Zellerfeld’s scan-to-print custom shoe system directly into Solebox’s Berlin flagship store, allowing customers not merely to buy sneakers but to co-create them. During this innovative experience, shoppers can have their feet professionally scanned, view an immersive demonstration of seamless, adhesive-free, and fully recyclable footwear production, and place on‑demand orders for custom-fit 3D printed shoes.

This experiential model transforms retail from passive browsing into active involvement—buyers are engaged participants in the creative and production journey of their footwear.

Zellerfeld, headquartered in Hamburg with roots in San Francisco, has been highlighted by VoxelMatters from its very beginning as a company democratizing the footwear industry through innovative 3D printing and customization platforms. Zellerfeld recently scaled its additive production capabilities in collaboration with Fraunhofer IAPT, enabling it to meet rising demand for functional, design-forward footwear. Moreover, in late 2024, Zellerfeld drew attention for its joint creation of the Nike Air Max 1000—an almost fully 3D printed sneaker, which was launched officially during Paris Fashion Week in June 2025 and is now commercially available.

Zellerfeld has built a global platform where over 300 designers can submit unique designs, offering more than 100 bold models available worldwide. Each pair is crafted with zellerFOAM, a breathable, washable and fully recyclable TPU, printed in a lightweight, lattice structure that hugs the wearer’s foot like a second skin.

In the Solebox flagship, visitors will witness Zellerfeld’s seamless production process and receive guidance from knowledgeable staff. The integration of foot scanning, education about sustainable materials and techniques, and direct order placement creates a unique retail experience anchored in innovation and personalization.

This collaboration also reflects broader trends in footwear innovation. As VoxelMatters recently explained, major brands like Nike and Adidas have long promised 3D printed revolutions but have been slow to implement large‑scale personalized production. Zellerfeld and Solebox’s partnership offers a tangible, retail-ready version of that promise, leading the way in consumer-accessible, on-demand footwear manufacturing.

The launch has been made possible thanks to the vision of Zellerfeld and Solebox leadership, including Aljoscha Kondratiew, and the technical and logistical expertise of Metrofarm GmbH in designing and installing this immersive retail attraction. By merging Zellerfeld’s cutting-edge 3D‑print-on-demand shoe technology with Solebox’s influential retail platform, this partnership delivers a fresh model for the future of footwear.
