# Snapmaker Space enters closed beta and more news from Formnext Asia

Snapmaker Space entered closed beta the day before we sat down with Snapmaker PR manager and spokesperson Hao Jiang at [Snapmaker](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/snapmaker/)'s [Formnext Asia Shenzhen](https://www.voxelmatters.com/the-am-adoption-race-is-on-at-formnext-asia-shenzhen-2026/) booth. Jiang pointed to the [U1 itself as the company's most successful Kickstarter campaign to date](https://www.voxelmatters.com/the-snapmaker-u1-is-here-and-its-something-else/), drawing heavy pre-launch funding and, within a year of its release, a wave of rival multicolor machines built around the same approach. He said Snapmaker's own focus since then had moved from the hardware to the software and content around it, with Snapmaker Space as the latest piece.

[Snapmaker](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/snapmaker/) moved Snapmaker Space into closed beta testing the new model marketplace with more than 1,000 curated multi-color and multi-material designs built exclusively for the U1. Each model carries a U1-ready print profile, so an owner can pick a design and send it to print in one click, without adjusting color assignments or material settings by hand. The platform reaches users through a browser, the Snapmaker app, and the Snapmaker Orca slicer.

Snapmaker Space has not opened to the public. U1 owners apply by entering their email in the subscription field on space.snapmaker.com to join a waitlist, and the company is prioritizing owners willing to test the platform and report back before any wider release.

The U1's color process rests on Full Spectrum, a color-mixing technique that blends four base materials into a full color range. Jiang credited the method to Radu, known in the 3D printing community by his online handle Ratdoux, who built Full Spectrum independently before Snapmaker brought him on to lead its development inside the company. Jiang said Radu was now adapting Snapmaker's slicing software to work with the technique directly.

"Many of our users from overseas give us really good feedback," Jiang said. "We have a really strong community, and our super users think the multicolor printing works well: it's fast, and there's less waste." [We tested a U1 unit ahead of the show](https://www.voxelmatters.com/voxelmatters-review-of-the-snapmaker-u1-simply-the-best-4-color-3d-printer/), and its multi-toolhead color capabilities can produce models that would take too long to print or use too much material on a standard single-material machine, with model access as the remaining gap Snapmaker Space is meant to close.

When asked about integration with AI model generation tools such as Meshy or Tripo, Jiang confirmed an existing partnership with Meshy AI and said Snapmaker Space is meant to widen access to ready-made designs alongside it. Asked about the hardware roadmap, Jiang declined to give details but said Snapmaker plans to release its own Full Spectrum filament directly to users, simplifying a process that currently relies on third-party materials.

Snapmaker's own user data points to four main settings for the U1: living rooms, studios, fashion design workshops, and children's spaces, Jiang said. He added that he uses his own machine to make toys with friends, and confirmed the toy models on display at the booth were designed in-house rather than generated from a photo or an AI tool.

The Shenzhen booth drew heavy first-day traffic, with distributors already asking about collaboration, Jiang said, a contrast Sher noted with the comparatively muted public interest in 3D printing he sees at European trade shows. Jiang said Snapmaker's aim is to give every region equal access to new updates rather than prioritize any single market.

Snapmaker's headquarters staff now number more than 300, Jiang said, a figure that doesn't include distributors or contract manufacturers. He said the company still sees ordinary consumers as its main user base, but professional buyers and print farm operators have joined in growing numbers over the past year, drawn by the speed and lower material waste of multicolor printing. That growth, he said, has strengthened Snapmaker's user community rather than pulled the company away from its consumer roots.
