SMRRF 2026, the UK’s biggest 3D print fest returns in one month

On March 7-8, 2026, the third edition of SMRRF (Sanjay Mortimer RepRap Festival) will take place at The Dalton Building at Manchester Metropolitan University. The event brings together the 3D printing, engineering, and STEM education communities, focusing on technological innovation and supporting neurodivergent young people.

The event is organized by the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation (SMF), a charity supporting neurodivergent individuals interested in engineering and the sciences. The foundation was established after the tragic death of Sanjay Mortimer on November 27, 2021, co-founder of E3D-Online and one of the most recognizable figures in the 3D printing world.

Mortimer was a visionary driven by a passion for making and having fun while pursuing a mission to change how humanity manufactures goods using FFF technology. His neurodivergence was an integral part of how he thought and created, and his work continues to influence the community today. The SMF continues his legacy by supporting the young people he wanted to help.

Neurodivergence refers to a person whose mind works differently from socially accepted norms and is considered part of the natural spectrum of human neurology.

SMRRF 2026 Highlights

This year’s program includes two full days of exhibitions, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities. Dr. Adrian Bowyer, the founder of the RepRap project, will deliver the opening keynote, while Joel Telling, The 3D Printing Nerd, will host an additive manufacturing quiz.

Additional attractions include the popular Death Racers game featuring 3D printed robots, live robotics demonstrations and the AccuBots combat robot arena, interactive STEAM Academy Droidbuilders workshops, a large SMRRF raffle and auction, and a chance to win a prototype of the original Voron 2 Serial 0 rebuilt by Steve Builds.

The event is open to the public, with tickets available through Eventbrite. Standard ticket pricing is £12.50 for a one-day adult ticket and £20.00 for a weekend adult ticket. Children aged 14 and under can attend for £5.00 for one day or £8.00 for the weekend. Family tickets, valid for two adults and two children, are priced at £32.00 for one day and £50.00 for the weekend. Student tickets are available at £8.57 for one day or £13.71 for the weekend.

All proceeds from the event will support the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation and its programs that help neurodivergent young people access STEM education. SMRRF 2026 aims to bring together technology, education, and community, with a strong focus on accessible and inclusive engineering.
