European OEM signs MoU to purchase 5 SLM NXG XII 600s
SLM Solutions signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a major European original equipment manufacturer (OEM), which will purchase five NXG XII 600 machines. The formal contract between the parties will be signed in 2021 Q2, with the first machine delivery scheduled for 2022. The agreement further allows for the reservation and allocation of production slots.
SLM’s announcement comes just three months after it unveiled the NXG XII 600. This new machine boasts twelve 1 kW-powered lasers, and a build envelope of 600x600x600mm. This tech is, however, not just about adding lasers. The NXG XII 600 also cools the molten metal powder, thus ensuring that the build chamber atmosphere and the powder itself remain stable. These features allow the printer to create objects twenty times faster than previous SLM printers.
This new rapid technology features as a way toward industrial serial production, and SLM’s new customer will be one of the first global companies to take advantage of the printer’s benefits. The European OEM intends to implement the printer for serial production.
Additive Manufacturing can lead to numerous commercial and technical advantages allowing companies to strengthen their competitive positions. It requires knowledge in additive manufacturing, but above all, robust and productive machines. The SLM Solutions’ NXG XII 600 takes manufacturing to a new level and enables the production of complex, high-quality metal parts in only a few hours.
O’Leary further stated: “This MoU underlines that not only are we prepared to step forward to the industrialization of metal additive manufacturing, but the marketplace is ready as well.”
A further beta machine contract has been concluded with another customer. This machine will be delivered in Q2 2021.
