Sintavia gets AS 9100 certification for design and development

Sintavia achieved AS 9100 approval for product design and development. The approval followed months of auditing the company’s past performance as a designer and additive manufacturer of thermal and airfoil components for aerospace, defense, and space industry applications.
The new approval allows the company to offer its flight and launch customers certified design solutions for critical components, such as heat exchangers, combustors and chassis.
AS 9100 is a quality management certification for aerospace, defense and space industry manufacturers. The standard is based on standard ISO 9001, with enhanced focus on enhanced quality and safety for the safety-conscious aerospace sector.

“Over the past nine years, Sintavia has reached a number of milestones as we have developed the market for critical, additively manufactured components for the Aerospace, Defense, & Space industry,” said Alex Bencomo, Sintavia’s Vice President of Operations. “AS 9100 accreditation for design and development continues this trend. Customers can now be assured that not only does Sintavia possess the capability to design and develop their critical components, but also that it maintains the processes needed to conform these parts to rigorous quality standards.”
The standard is often required by aerospace producers to ensure quality control throughout the manufacturing process. Complex aircraft, spacecraft and defense products require long, diversified supply chains with multiple producers. Industry standards afford all players in each supply chain independent quality control certification.
In addition to AS 9100 certification for the design and manufacture of aviation components, Sintavia is certified to ISO 17025 and ISO 14001 standards, and holds Nadcap accreditations in additive manufacturing, heat treatment, and mechanical testing.
