Sintavia adds EOS and TRUMPF metal 3D printers to its Florida facility

Manufacturing company Sintavia LLC has installed two more metal 3D printers to its in-house production facility in South Florida. The two new machines, a TRUMPF TruPrint 3000 and an EOS M400-4 will enable Sintavia to ramp up and increase its manufacturing capacity.

A Tier One metal AM company, Sintavia provides its manufacturing services to a number of industries. Presently, its production facility in Davie, Florida houses nine metal 3D printers, including EOS M400-4, M400-1 and M290 laser printers; a TRUMPF TruPrint 3000 laser printer; a Concept Laser M2 machine and an Arcam Q20+ electron beam system.

“These two additional machines significantly increase our production capacity and will reduce lead times for our customers,” commented Doug Hedges, Sintavia’s President. “Our customers rely on our high quality, cost-effective metal AM production for aerospace and other precision industries. Having nine machines in our vertically integrated, advanced manufacturing facility speeds up turnaround times which is immensely important to our customers.”

Sintavia adds metal 3d printers

The nine machines will reportedly soon be rounded out to ten with the installation of another EOS M400-4 printer later this year and Sintavia expects to double its manufacturing capacity next year when it relocates to a new, larger facility in Spring 2019. The company broke ground on the upcoming facility in 2017.

Let’s take a closer look at Sintavia’s two most recent additions to its additive manufacturing fleet.

EOS M400-4

The EOS M400-4, made by German 3D printer manufacturer EOS, is described as an “ultra-fast quad-laser system with a large building volume.” With a build volume of 400 x 400 x 400 mm and operating four lasers, the EOS M400-4 is indeed a machine to be reckoned with. The four lasers, working simultaneously to sinter metal powder, enable four times higher productivity and rapid turnaround for metal parts.

The DMLS-based printer also offers easy handling and a highly automated workflow and operation. In terms of materials, the AM system supports a wide range of metals, ranging from light metals such as aluminum to stainless and tool steels to superalloys.

TRUMPF TruPrint 3000

Germany-based TRUMPF’s TruPrint Series 3000 machine, for its part, is an industrial metal AM system notable for its flexible series production. The medium-format printer, a Laser Metal Fusion (LMF) system, boasts a build volume of 300 x 300 x 400 mm and has easily replaceable build and powder supply cylinders.

The TruPrint 3000 is equipped with a 500 W fiber laser and has a wavelength of about 1,070 nm. The machine also integrates a variable focal diameter (between 100 and 500 μm) which plays into the metal 3D printer’s flexible manufacturing.
