# Signify brings industrial 3D printing to Piła factory in Polish expansion

The move positions the Piła facility as a key hub for additive manufacturing within Signify’s European footprint. The company states that 3D printing will enable faster production cycles, reduced waste, and more localized supply chains, aligning with growing demand for environmentally conscious and tailor-made lighting solutions.

## Personalized production and sustainability

The factory will manufacture additively produced lighting fixtures that customers can personalize in terms of design and specifications. Signify claims the process reduces carbon emissions by up to 70% compared to conventional methods, citing efficiencies in material use and logistics.

“The scalable use of 3D printing is not just an investment in the future of the factory—it’s a step toward modernizing the national manufacturing sector,” said Tomasz Książek, President of Signify Poland. He added that the expansion “positions Poland on the global map of advanced technologies.”

Bart Maeyens, Director of 3D Printing at Signify, described the technology as a “game changer,” noting that new production methods allow the company to manufacture “exactly the number of units a customer needs,” reducing overproduction and inventory costs.

## Phased rollout through 2026

The expansion is expected to boost the regional economy by adding technical and operational jobs in the Piła area. Signify plans to work with local institutions to support workforce development in advanced manufacturing and sustainable technologies.

The rollout will take place in stages, with the first 3D printing lines set to go live in December 2025. Additional product families will follow in early 2026, with full production capacity expected by mid-year. Once fully operational, the Piła factory will supply 3D-printed lighting products to both domestic and international markets.

Signify, formerly Philips Lighting, has positioned itself as a global leader in energy-efficient lighting systems and smart connected solutions. The company has previously piloted 3D printing at smaller sites but is now scaling the approach as part of its broader manufacturing strategy.
