Sigma Labs, Inc. has announced the launch of a new software-based offering, PrintRite3D Production Series. The quality assurance solution introduces new features such as the Production Dashboard, and offers useful information and AI-driven metrics to production managers. The company says its platform can enhance the speed and agility of the additive manufacturing process by “truncating the design and development process and accelerating the 3D manufacturing machine qualification.”

Sigma’s PrintRite3D Production Series is machine agnostic and is compatible with most metal 3D printer brands, meaning it can offer standardized quality assurance across a supply chain that uses different 3D printer models. The technology also includes real-time remote monitoring and an intuitive dashboard with a range of valuable features.

These features include:

  • Automated In-process Quality Metric (IPQM) alerts, which enable production managers to use custom metric thresholding for determining part and process quality;
  • IPQM trained with machine learning algorithms and micro CT, which can identify standard AM defects and classify porosity models like lack of fusion, key hole, spherical porosity and foreign inclusions;
  • High resolution IPQM medical grade forensic analysis, which can investigate process engineering part anomalies and provides a level of high level of granularity throughout the build process.

“Sigma Labs has a rich history of innovation,” commented Mark K. Ruport, Executive Chairman of Sigma Labs. “PrintRite3D Production Series is the culmination of years of internal research and development and radical collaboration with our customers. We believe it will be seen as a major advancement for the additive manufacturing industry just as 3D printing of metal parts will be tested and challenged to fulfill the promise of being the next revolution in manufacturing.”

Production engineers can use PrintRite3D Production Series remotely, monitoring, analyzing and even intervening in real-time production when needed from anywhere in the world.

“Bringing Sigma’s technology down to the manufacturing floor to be used by production managers to monitor the 3D printing process is a major step forward for the AM industry,” added Dr. Prveen Bidare, Technical Research Officer in Hybrid Manufacturing at the University of Birmingham. “PrintRite3D Production Series addresses one of the critical barriers of the industrialization of additive manufacturing and puts highly sophisticated tools in the hands of the printer operators.”

Sigma Labs’ new offering will become available in April 2020.
