Siemens strengthens AM partnerships with BLT, Farsoon

A team lead by VP of AM Karsten Heuser visited the facilities and inked new collaboration agreements

Xi’an BLT Additive Technology Co., Ltd. and Siemens (China) Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement to establish a long-term strategic cooperative relationship. The team led by Karsten Heuser, Global Head of Additive Manufacturing of Siemens Digital Industries, met with BLT representatives as part of series of visits to some of the leading Chinese AM companies. The tour also took Siemens to visit Farsoon Technologies to strengthen the ongoing strategic partnership which aims to integrate industrial solutions for additive manufacturing. Both stories were first reported by the leading Chinese AM industry portal Nanji Xiong, and independently confirmed to VoxelMatters by a Siemens senior executive.

Siemens first established cooperation with BLT in 2014 to jointly create advanced technologies and solutions to ensure the quality and safety of the equipment forming process, make the operation of the equipment more controllable, and the production process more sustainable. The new agreement with BLT will see the two parties will cooperate in exploring the construction of digital factories, R&D and production of metal additive manufacturing equipment and other fields. Siemens will provide the latest automation and drive products, as well as corresponding support services, and BLT will carry out application technology development and other work for these products.

Representatives from BLT and Siemens included Xue Lei, Chairman and General Manager of BLT, Yang Donghui, Deputy General Manager, Karsten Heuser, Global Head of Additive Manufacturing of Siemens Digitla Industries, Yao Jun, Senior Vice President of Digital Industry Group and General Manager of Western Region of Siemens (China) Co., Ltd. attended the signing ceremony.

“The BLT equipment line has been cooperating with Siemens for many years. I hope that Siemens can work together with us to explore and innovate, and assist BLT in developing more intelligent, stable, high-quality, and high-efficiency metal 3D printing equipment, and jointly promote The development process of Industry 4.0,” added Yang Donghui, Deputy General Manager of BLT.

In addition, the Siemens team also visited the BLT enterprise exhibition hall and intelligent manufacturing plant and held in-depth talks with the BLT side to on the development status and prospects of the application of metal additive manufacturing. BLT and Siemens will adhere to the concept of co-creation, enjoying advantages in their respective fields, cooperating in the fields of metal additive manufacturing equipment, digitalization of additive manufacturing, jointly expanding the application of additive manufacturing and promoting the development of metal additive manufacturing.

During the same tour, the Siemens team also visited Farsoon, another leading metal and polymer AM hardware manufacturer in China. Unlike BLT, Farsoon does not offer services directly but collaborates closely with major service providers such as Falcontech. Relying on the practical experience of additive manufacturing integrated industrial solutions, the Farsoon High-Tech and Siemens teams will combine their expertise and advantages to continuously expand the industrial application of additive manufacturing technology.

Cheng Jie and Don Xu led the Siemens team to visit Farsoon Hi-Tech’s exhibition hall and production plant and introduced Farsoon Hi-Tech’s innovative large-scale industrialized additive manufacturing equipment solutions. At the meeting between the two parties, Dr. Karsten Heuser, Siemens Global Vice President of Additive Manufacturing, and the Farsoon Hi-Tech team had an in-depth discussion on promoting the development of additive manufacturing towards Industry 4.0.

Siemens and Farsoon Hi-Tech R&D teams will continue to cooperate to integrate Siemens NX software on Farsoon Hi-Tech’s metal and polymer additive manufacturing open-source platform to provide end-to-end equipment-software solutions for industrial application projects. The two parties will strengthen the application of Siemens automation and drive solutions in Farsoon Hi-Tech additive manufacturing equipment, and will give priority to Siemens solutions in the future development and production of Farsoon equipment;

With its expertise in industrial digital manufacturing, Siemens will provide Farsoon 3D printing users with high-performance, streamlined “from design to manufacturing” factory automation solutions.
