# Scandium Canada files US patent for Aluminum alloy AM powders

[Scandium Canada, a technology metals company](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/scandium-canada/), has submitted a filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a provisional patent entitled '[Aluminum alloy powders](https://www.voxelmatters.com/aluminum-association-registers-a7050-ram2-aluminum-for-am/) for additive manufacturing. Methods of producing the same and uses thereof'. The company has developed two aluminum scandium (Al-Sc) alloys and their powders, specifically for additive manufacturing applications, in collaboration with McMaster University, in Ontario, Canada. This has resulted in a significant body of intellectual property developed over the last 3 years.

Scandium Canada is currently developing one of the largest primary scandium projects in the world with a vision to contribute to society’s goal to reduce carbon emissions to net zero. The company's Crater Lake property in Quebec contains 96 mining claims covering 4,705 hectares.
