# SAE AMS committee to convene at GKN Aerospace in Sweden this May

The [SAE International Aerospace Materials Specifications Additive Manufacturing Metals Committee](https://standardsworks.sae.org/standards-committees/ams-additive-manufacturing-metals) is holding its next face-to-face meeting on May 5–7, 2026, hosted by GKN Aerospace at its facility in Trollhättan, Sweden. Registration closes March 31, 2026.

The 2.5-day agenda combines technical presentations, working sessions on specification development, and industry collaboration across a broad range of active standards efforts. Key items include revisions to AMS7003, the primary LPBF process specification, led by Dave Abbott of GE Aerospace, and updates to AMS7032, the machine installation qualification and operational qualification standard, led by Chloe Johnson of Beehive Industries.

The committee also plans to advance ARP7065 and ARP7068, covering definitions and technical considerations for in situ process monitoring (ISPM), led by Tyler LeBrun of The Barnes Global Advisors and Fernando Lartategui of ITP Aero, respectively.

Further agenda items include progress on the General Agreement for Material Property Specifications—spanning microstructure, fatigue, and creep; a proposed methodology for collecting metallography images for new specifications and production conformance; and resumed work on an AMS7031 equivalent addressing powder management for closed-loop machines.

A five-year review of existing standards, including updates to powder specifications for AMS7025 compliance, is also on the docket. Scott Wigen and Lee Barber of RTX are scheduled to present the company's consolidated IQ/OQ/PQ+MQ qualification approach, and Matthew Crill of The Barnes Global Advisors will share conclusions and recommendations from America Makes' Delta Qualification program. Updates from MMPDS, Nadcap, and PRI—the Performance Review Institute—will be delivered by Doug Hall of Battelle and Richard Freeman of PRI and Nadcap. A dedicated workshop is also planned to explore how SAE AMS standards intersect with and can support the adoption of AI in manufacturing environments.

Several sessions are restricted to in-person attendees. GKN Aerospace researchers are scheduled to present on the structural behavior of AM parts, surface measurement considerations and parameter selection, defect characterization for AM process development, and feedstock characterization for additive manufacturing—delivered by Sushovan Roychowdhury, Leonardo Pelcastre, Arda Baytaroglu, and Ceena Joseph, respectively. Bernard Revaz of AMiquam will present on in situ process monitoring in practice. Attendees are also invited to tour GKN Aerospace's Trollhättan facility on the first day.
