RP Platform, the London-based company providing workflow automation software for additive manufacturing, has now extended its services to offer companies the ability to price parts produced from non-AM production methods and post-processing services for the first time.

Through its new Internal Quotation system, companies will be able to produce automated quotations for a wide range of traditional production methods in addition to additive manufacturing. These include:

“At RP Platform we are committed to streamlining the additive manufacturing process. However, as AM is increasingly integrated into wider manufacturing processes, we found that a large number of our customers offer traditional manufacturing methods in addition to their additive manufacturing services. We therefore wanted to provide an efficient and effective way for them to price parts produced through both technologies.” Felix Doerr, Head of Business Development at RP Platform.

Producing quotes for traditional manufacturing and AM can often be manual and time-consuming. However, RP Platform’s Internal Quotation system automates the entire pricing process, allowing companies to price parts based on their own parameters. And, for the first time, post-processing services can also be priced in the same way, with custom fields giving users the flexibility to create their own pricing formulas based on their individual requirements.

“Internal Quotation is essentially our way of combining both additive manufacturing and traditional manufacturing processes,” Doerr said. “We know that additive manufacturing will not replace traditional manufacturing methods, but is a powerful complement for applications such as mass customisation and the production of end-use parts and prototypes. Our Internal Quotation system therefore combines the best of both worlds on one software platform.”
