Rösler bundles all AM activities under AM Solutions brand

AM Solutions, the Rösler group’s brand for all activities around additive manufacturing, was presented at Formnext as a partner for resolving any issues regarding the entire AM workflow. From design and engineering to the actual printing process, and to post-processing. The brand’s activities include numerous innovations for automated post-processing.

More and more companies and industrial sectors are relying on additive manufacturing for their volume production. Along with this development, the requirements for all kinds of high-quality surface finishes are becoming more complex and challenging. At the same time strict industry-specific demands for process safety and transparency, as well as repeatable post-processing need to be addressed.

Automated post-processing

These demands can only be met by fully automatic solutions. Together with its partners, AM Solutions – 3D Post Processing (a division of AM Solutions) specializes in the supply of suitable post-processing equipment for 3D printed components and offers a broad range of products. The equipment range fulfills all post-processing needs for 3D printed components and not only includes unpacking, removal of support structures, removal of loose & sintered residual powder, but also surface cleaning, edge radiusing, surface smoothing, high gloss polishing and the application of color dyes. These solutions ensure fully automatic, highly efficient post-processing with consistent and repeatable results. The machines can be integrated into interconnected manufacturing systems.

A broad product portfolio

The S2 system from AM Solutions was specifically developed for post-processing of plastic components made with powder bed-based printing methods. Fully automatic processing, including automatic workpiece loading/unloading, and short cycle times allows the powder removal, cleaning and/or surface texturing of the output of multiple printers with one single machine. The S2 stands out for continuous recycling and cleaning of the blast media and permits the reclamation of re-usable powder.

AM Solutions

The S3 system combines high productivity with the flexibility of robotic handling. This fully automatic wet blasting machine with closely controlled process parameters is ideal for the removal of support structures and residual powder as well as surface texturing of large, complex components made from metal and plastic.

Another highlight from the shoe floor was the M3 system, which allows gentle and, at the same time, intensive surface finishing, including treatment of complex, difficult to reach internal passages. The machine is designed for handling one single workpiece measuring up to 650 mm or several smaller components.

Furthermore, with the S1 Basic and the M1 Basic systems AM Solutions presented competitively priced entry-level machines, which can be quickly integrated into practically any production line. The S1 Basic is suitable for powder removal and surface cleaning. The machine can handle different blast media and allows the addition of various accessories. For example, the cabinet can be equipped with a rotary table or a rotary basket. The M1 Basic is ideal for surface smoothing and polishing of 3D printed components made from metal or plastic. This machine also features an integrated process water recycling system with suitable process controls.

3D printing services

The other division, AM Solutions – 3D Printing Services, presented a broad consultation and service package for the development and optimization of 3D printed components. Equipped with state-of-the-art tools and comprehensive know-how, the experts from this division of AM Solutions make sure that the design possibilities of 3D printing are fully exploited for any task, irrespective of whether this includes a completely new design, a re-design of existing components for additive manufacturing, a design validation or the optimization of a component topology.

In-house 3D printing is carried out with the latest powder bed fusion technologies and includes machining capabilities by qualified operators. AM Solutions – 3D Printing Services can, of course, offer the complete equipment range from AM Solutions 3D Post Processing. The close cooperation between the two divisions guarantees that all customer demands regarding the required surface finish can already be taken into consideration during the design/engineering phase for an AM component.
