As if being one of the best strikers ever wasn’t enough, Polish football player, Robert Lewandowski, has officially become the tallest person printed using 3D printing technology. This monumental creation, printed on Polish 3D printers, had been presented during Expo XXI, autumn’s 8th edition of Dni Druku 3D in Warsaw. The event was sponsored by Spectrum Group (Spectrum Filaments), GAIA Multitool, Wolfix and VSHAPER.

Poles manages to beat the  previous British Guinness world record by 1m and 1cm, creating the tallest 3D printed statue. The process consisted of several phases. Firstly it was necessary to scan the footballer and this was done using technology supplied by Smartech.

High precision of the 3D scanning was required in order to achieve needed printing results. In the next phase, two Gaia Multitool printers together with Ubicum were printing actual elements of the statue. After completion of the parts, it was possible to put together a statue with a record breaking total height of 3m and 6cm.

Now, the sculpture will be given to the “real Lewandowski”, who agreed to put the statue up for a charity auction.
