Introducing the RIZE 2XC, a new sub-$5k composite 3D printer

Massachusetts-based 3D printing company RIZE, Inc. has announced the launch of a new professional composite 3D printer, the RIZE 2XC. The new system is the first product to be released as part of the RIZIUM Alliance, a collaboration with RIZE and industry players aimed at improving the safety and sustainability of 3D printing.

The RIZE 2XC 3D printer is a sub-$5k system that is capable of producing strong functional components made from a range of RIZIUM high performance polymers and composite materials. The machine itself is a dual-extrusion system from South Korean manufacturer Sindoh that has been redesigned and adapted for RIZE’s RIZIUM portfolio of engineering-grade materials, which are marketed as recyclable, moisture resistant, easy to process and zero emissions.

Each of the 3D printer’s two extruders are compatible with hardened materials and composites. For optimal usage, RIZE recommends using one extruder for its RIZIUM composites and polymers, and the other extruder for RIZIUM Support, a specially developed support material with excellent printability and minimal post processing.

“The RIZE 2XC is especially well suited for a variety of industrial and academic applications,” added Ricco Busk, Director at CADSYS, a RIZE Partner. “Given the high demand for having 3D composite parts, we are able to, almost immediately, sign up a customer for the RIZE 2XC to use in their innovative plastic molding applications, such as robotic grippers. Combining RIZE’s material advantage in the high quality, easy to use 2XC 3D platform opens doors to new markets for 3D printing that need precision parts made safely and sustainably.”

The new 3D printer expands RIZE’s hardware portfolio, which also includes the RIZE One monochrome multi-material desktop 3D printer and the XRIZE full-color multi-material desktop system. Last October, the RIZE One became the first 3D printer to obtain UL 2904 GreenGuard certification for safety and low emissions. Emissions and related safety issues have been one of RIZE’s priorities. Now, in the midst of a global pandemic that affects the respiratory system, its emissions-free 3D printers might have an even greater edge, as safety is even more at the forefront.

The new RIZE 2XC, though not GreenGuard certified, is based on the same principles as RIZE’s previous systems, meaning that volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are not emitted in the printing process. The company says the 3D printer can safely be used in a range of environments, including home or the office.

It is also a demonstration of our openness to work with other industry players to deliver on the promise of health and safety of 3D printing users.”

The new composite 3D printer, which has an introductory price of $3,995 in the US market and €3,995 in Europe, will become available starting June 30, 2020 through RIZE’s reseller network. RIZE’s materials portfolio currently consists of RIZIUM ONE, RIZIUM CARBON and RIZIUM GF.
