restor3d launches Ossera AFX ankle fusion cage system
Full market launch features off-the-shelf and custom implant options following successful limited market release
restor3d, a global leader in patient-specific, 3D printed, musculoskeletal implants, has launched its Ossera AFX Ankle Fusion Cage System for full commercial distribution, in an expansion of the platform that includes standardized off-the-shelf implants alongside its existing made-to-order configurations.
The system targets complex ankle fusion cases and tibiotalocalcaneal fusion procedures in patients at risk of limb loss, and the full product offering comes after a successful, limited market release that ran for several months.
The standardized offering now includes implants in Cylinder, Dome, and Pill, geometries – developed via analysis of patient case data collected over several years with the ultimate aim of an optimized fit across varied anatomies.
The platform combines 3D printed titanium alloy implants with foot and ankle-specific reusable instrumentation and restor3d’s TIDAL Technology, a proprietary porous architecture designed to support osseointegration.
The system includes cannulated reamers, flat cut guides, and lateral fibular relief across implant geometries. Sterile-packed implants and instrumentation ship immediately, and the platform offers optional surgical templating via X-ray or CT imaging for patient-planned solutions.
“The Ossera AFX System is a readily available, standardized solution to deal with critical bone defects and has superior mechanical and osseointegration properties compared to allograft,” stated Christopher Kreulen, MD. “The foot and ankle specific instrumentation and robust selection of sizes have significantly changed my complex limb salvage practice.”
restor3d received FDA 510(k) clearance for the system in March 2025. Last year, the company raised $104 million in funding for continued product innovation, expanded commercial growth, and a broadening of access to personalized orthopedic care.
