Recreus introduces new PLA-LW (Light Weight) filament

Stay up to date with everything that is happening in the wonderful world of AM via our LinkedIn community.

Spanish 3D printing filament manufacturer Recreus is adding a new material to its growing portfolio of products: the new PLA-LW (Light Weight) filament. A light PLA filament that reduces the weight of printed parts by up to 50% compared to conventional PLA thanks to active foaming technology.

It is an ideal filament for creating lightweight, low density and resistant parts. By reducing the flow in the printing of this material, we can print up to two and three times more parts than with a conventional PLA spool.

A clear example of the application of the PLA-LW is in the manufacture of air models. Thanks to the foaming of the material at high temperatures we can reduce the total weight of the model and therefore reduce the wing load of the aeromodeller enabling an improvement in its flight qualities.

Another example is in the use of material when making complements or accessories for ‘cosplay’, as they will be lighter and more bearable.

The new PLA-LW is now available in 2 colors, natural and black, in two sizes, 750gr and 3kg and in 1.75mm diameter.
