Prusa CORE One 3D printer launches at Formnext
A fully enclosed Core XY 3D printer with active chamber temperature control
At Formnext Prusa Researched officially launched the fully enclosed Prusa CORE One, a CoreXY 3D printer with active chamber temperature control that combines professional-grade performance with user-friendly features. Engineered for versatility, speed, and precision, it promises an unmatched experience for users across various applications.
CORE One has the ability to handle a diverse range of materials, including PLA, PETG, ASA, ABS, PC, and Nylon, delivering exceptional quality in every print. Whether the task involves creating prototypes, manufacturing functional parts, or producing final products, the CORE One is designed to excel in all areas.
Key features
The fully enclosed design of the Prusa CORE One eliminates the need for manual adjustments often required for certain materials. Its compact chamber, made from high-end polymer panels, ensures optimal printing conditions while enhancing both safety and durability.
Active chamber temperature control is achieved through a dual-fan system located at the back of the printer. This innovative setup precisely regulates the chamber’s temperature, enabling superior performance across a variety of materials. Unlike standard enclosed printers, the CORE One can produce excellent results with PLA and PETG even with the doors closed, marking a significant improvement in usability and convenience.
The Prusa CORE One offers a print volume of 250×220×270 mm, making it suitable for large-scale projects. Despite its generous build area, the printer maintains a compact footprint that takes up 30% less space than the MK4S in its enclosed configuration. The chamber heats to 55 °C, enabling seamless printing of demanding materials like Nylon and Polycarbonate, while still delivering outstanding results with everyday options like PLA and PETG.
Benefits of the Prusa CORE One
The CORE One achieves remarkable print quality thanks to its Nextruder, which features a 360° cooling mechanism. This ensures excellent overhang performance, reduces material usage by minimizing the need for supports, and guarantees a perfect first layer through its Loadcell sensor. The sensor adapts effortlessly to various surfaces without the need for recalibration.
Print times are significantly reduced due to the CoreXY architecture, which allows the CORE One to complete projects up to 20% faster than the MK4S. This speed does not come at the cost of quality, as the printer continues to produce precise and reliable results.
The CORE One’s exoskeleton is inspired by nature’s efficiency, offering unmatched sturdiness and space efficiency. The frame serves a dual purpose as both structural support and aesthetic enclosure, streamlining the manufacturing process and reducing material waste.
Advanced chamber control
With precise chamber control, the CORE One allows seamless transitions between high-temperature and low-temperature materials. A simple vent adjustment ensures compatibility with a wide range of filaments, making it versatile and user-friendly.
One of the standout capabilities is its ability to maintain high-quality prints with PLA and PETG while the chamber doors remain closed. This innovation enhances the usability of the enclosed design without sacrificing print quality.
The CoreXY design enhances both speed and precision, offering faster, more accurate movements. This system also minimizes mechanical stress on components, contributing to the printer’s long lifespan. The robust steel gantry ensures perfect alignment, reducing assembly errors and providing a reliable foundation for consistent performance.
Modular upgrades and add-ons
The CORE One is designed with expansion in mind. It supports a range of modular upgrades and accessories, including the GPIO hackerboard for custom projects and optional HEPA filtration systems. Future additions, such as the Buddy3D Camera and MMU3, will further enhance the printer’s functionality, offering advanced monitoring and multi-material capabilities.
The CORE One’s versatility makes it an excellent choice for both hobbyists and professionals. Its ability to print with industrial-grade materials positions it as a valuable tool for functional prototyping and end-use part production. The compact design and low maintenance requirements also make it ideal for high-capacity print farms, where maximizing output in limited spaces is crucial.
The assembled Prusa CORE One will be available for shipping in January 2025, with an introductory price of $1199 (VAT excl.). For MK4S owners, conversion kits will become available in March 2025, allowing users to upgrade their existing setups without the need for a new purchase.
