Prototal Industries, the largest and most specialized manufacturing company for polymer additive manufacturing and injection molding in the Nordics, is expanding its operations into the UK through the acquisition of 3T Additive Manufacturing Polymers, the polymer AM service alter-ego of EOS partner 3T AM, for metal AM services, both part of AM Global Holding.
While less known, Prototal Industries is a manufacturing powerhouse from the Nordics, specialized in the realization of small batches of prototypes to flexible serial production of plastics parts. AM Global separated 3T AMP earlier this year to focus solely on polymer manufacturing, whilst retaining 3T Additive Manufacturing (3T AM) to focus on metal manufacturing.
Commenting on the deal, Jan Löfving, CEO of Prototal and Henrik Lundell (CSO), said: “Additive manufacturing has been a market constantly growing and innovating, and Prototal has made a number of acquisitions to consolidate its position and expand its offering. 3T AMP has been at the forefront of this market for over twenty years, is a great fit for our family of brands, and will benefit all customers. It is also a strong signal to the market of Prototal’s intention to actively develop the polymer market in the UK and globally.”
3T AMP and its strong and dedicated team will be led by Martin Nottingham, who has been within the company for several years.
The agreement means 3T AMP customers now become part of the Prototal family, gaining access to a wide range of polymer additive technologies including injection molding and PU casting, under a single brand. The 3T AMP acquisition is Prototal’s first outside the Nordics, marking the company’s intention to extend its reach throughout Europe, by extending its family of specialized manufacturing brands.
3T AMP brings twenty years of industry expertise and one of the largest capacities in Europe for polymer additive manufacturing into the Prototal family. 3T AMP also holds some of the highest quality certifications for aerospace (AS 9100) and medical (ISO 13485) production. The company is approved by many of the leading OEMs in the UK for supply of serial components.
Daniel Lichtenstein, Managing Director of AM Global, added: “Joining the Prototal family is an exciting opportunity for the 3T AMP team and its customers. The purchase will accelerate the growth of 3T AMP by immersing itself within a global innovative company. 3T AM will remain an AM Global company and will now be fully focused on the continued success in metal additive manufacturing.”
