# Protolabs qualifies Medical White resin on Axtra3D’s Lumia X1 platform

[Protolabs](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/proto-labs/) launched Medical White (MED-WHT 10) for production on [Axtra3D](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/axtra3d/)'s Lumia X1 Hi-Speed SLA platform, powered by Hybrid PhotoSynthesis technology. The material became immediately available through Protolabs' digital manufacturing services, marking it as the fifth material the company has qualified on the Lumia X1 platform.

## A growing partnership

The addition builds on [a collaboration between Axtra3D and Protolabs](https://www.voxelmatters.com/protolabs-expands-axtra3d-lumia-x1-fleet-to-three-printers/), which operates three Lumia X1 production systems to support customer demand across industrial and medical applications. The two companies work together as an integrated engineering partnership, jointly identifying high-value applications, selecting materials from Axtra3D's network of material partners, and qualifying complete production workflows so customers receive validated manufacturing solutions rather than standalone materials.

## Built for regulated production

Medical White is designed for applications that need biocompatibility, sterilization compatibility, dimensional stability, and a clean visual finish, and it expands Protolabs' Advanced Photopolymers portfolio to include regulated production, not just prototyping. Suitable applications include medical devices, surgical guides, splints, diagnostic components, anatomical models, dental applications, industrial and electronic components that need dimensional and thermal stability, and high-detail prototypes and presentation models.

The material offers fine-detail resolution, true-to-CAD dimensional accuracy, a smooth surface finish, high-temperature resistance and sterilization compatibility. It meets ISO 10993-5 requirements for cytotoxicity and ISO 10993-10 requirements for sensitization and irritation. These properties, combined with the Lumia X1's HPS technology, allow Protolabs to produce detailed, production-quality parts while keeping the throughput needed for commercial manufacturing runs.
