Project Milestone house is the fourth 3D printed home to get tenants
This time it's in Holland
Yet another 3D printed house is now (or soon to be) inhabited by real people. It is the fourth in the world (excluding office buildings) and the first in the European Union. It is located in Eindhoven, Holland, and the it is the first of five buildings to be 3D printed as part of Project Milestone.
The new Eindhoven house fully complies with all strict Dutch building requirements. Unique is that the project partners have realized a house with their own design, thanks to extensive R&D to unlock the freedom of design of concrete printing.
Project Milestone is a joint construction and innovation project of Eindhoven University of Technology, Van Wijnen, Saint-Gobain Weber Beamix, Vesteda, the municipality of Eindhoven and Witteveen + Bos.
Before this latest example of a commercially habitable 3D printed house, the very first was the house built in Russia by AMT Specavia in 2017, however, this house was not actually sold to any tenant as the founder of the Russian 3D printing company built it for himself and his family.
More recently, a 3D printed house went officially on sale in Long Island, NY, however, it has not yet been sold. Even more recently, a 3D printed house built within a community using ICON technology in Austin, Texas welcomed a new tenant: the formerly homeless Tim Shea.
