Precision ADM targets production for aerospace industry with new certifications

The Canadian company has achieved AS9100 and ISO 9001 certifications

Precision ADM, Inc., a Canadian AM solutions provider based in Winnipeg, has received AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certifications, enabling it to manufacture components for the aerospace industry.

With the certifications in tow, Precision ADM will utilize its range of manufacturing technologies, including metal additive manufacturing and other digital manufacturing processes to deliver aerospace parts efficiently. The company says it is equipped to lower production costs for its clients by reducing material waste and decreasing time to market.

Leveraging its expertise in additive manufacturing specifically, the company will be able to produce more optimized parts for the aerospace sector—parts which benefit from more complex geometries and consolidated designs. Presently, the company if offering its solutions for the production of parts made from titanium, cobalt-chrome, Inconel and other alloys used in for aerospace applications.

“Our team continues to prove to be industry leaders,” commented Martin Petrak, CEO of Precision ADM. “In 2017 we were the first Canadian metal AM service provider to achieve ISO 13485 certification for medical applications, and now in 2018 we are again the first to hold both certifications for medical and aerospace. We are proud of our team’s accomplishment in reaching this significant milestone and are excited to work under these quality systems with our aerospace and defense customers.”

Dale Kellington, Director of Quality, added: “The design and manufacturing controls these certifications demand give our aerospace and defense customers the confidence they need that our manufacturing output will meet their stringent requirements within an ITAR compliant Controlled Goods Program registered facility.”

As Petrak points out, the company received certification for the production of parts and devices for the medical industry last year. More recently, the Manitoba-based company installed two EOS M290 and one EOS M400-4 3D printers, which made it the largest direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) AM manufacturer in Canada with ISO 13485:2016 Quality Management System certification. The company also recently completed Titanium AM process validation for its in-house M290 3D printers.
