Norsk Titanium has secured a recurring production contract with Northrop Grumman for structural aircraft components, marking the first formal production award between the two companies following a multi-year qualification and specification process.

The agreement establishes the Plattsburgh, New York-based manufacturer as a verified supplier of critical structural components to one of the aerospace and defense sector’s largest primes.

The contract followed an extended evaluation period during which Norsk Titanium’s additive manufacturing technology was assessed against Northrop Grumman’s aerospace production requirements. The company’s processes duly met the specifications necessary for recurring, serial-rate delivery — a threshold that can take years to reach in defense supply chains.

At the core of the qualification was Norsk Titanium’s Rapid Plasma Deposition (RPD) process, a directed energy deposition technology the company stated consumes significantly less raw material, energy, and time than conventional forming methods.

With approximately 700 metric tons of annual production capacity at its US facility, the company said it was positioned to support serial aerospace production from contract award.

“This milestone reflects the strength of our longstanding collaboration with Northrop Grumman and the proven performance of our technology in demanding aerospace environments,” said Fabrizio Ponte, President and Chief Executive Officer of Norsk Titanium.

“We see this as the beginning of a broader production footprint across additional programs and parts.”
