# Custom Bentley Batur Convertible integrates 3D printed platinum

British automotive company Bentley Motors has achieved yet another milestone in its use of metal additive manufacturing: its latest Bentley Batur, the "most highly-curated Batur Convertible so far", integrates a series of 3D printed elements made from platinum. This marks the company's first use of the precious metal, following its use of 3D printed gold and rose gold elements in previous Batur models.

Bentley's Batur vehicles are limited edition and highly customizable, enabling customers to choose a variety of features, like colors, finishes, and materials. To give of an idea of just how exclusive the cars are, only 16 Batur Convertibles were made by Bentley's Mulliner division. As the company recently revealed, Bentley Convertible #4 was designed in collaboration with customer Sonia Breslow, and will expand her already impressive car collection that includes a Blower Continuation Series, a Speed Six Continuation Series, and a Bentley Bacalar.

Among the unique features Breslow selected for her one-of-a-king convertible were a selection of components made from 3D printed platinum, including a center marker on the steering wheel and each organ stop. Other notable customizations include a unique tri-tone color palette, polished titanium exhaust finishers, silver grilles, and a welcome lamp that projects the owner's handwritten name using 415,800 microscopic mirrors. Under the hood, the Bentley Batur Convertible #4 has a W12 engine consisting of a 740 bhp, hand‑assembled 6.0‑litre twin‑turbocharged powertrain.

“As long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about cars," said Sonia Breslow. "When I have a car like this Batur, I don't plan on selling it in my lifetime—it’s my forever car. I’m totally into the detail and I love designing them—picking out the colours, working through every shade, every feature, making them different from everything else."

After [over 25 years using additive manufacturing](https://www.voxelmatters.com/bentley-motors-celebrates-25-years-of-additive-manufacturing-capabilities/), Bentley Motors has increasingly turned to the technology to support the increased customization it is offering clients. In 2022, the company unveiled [one of its first Batur models](https://www.voxelmatters.com/3d-printed-solid-gold-used-in-bentleys-exclusive-mulliner-batur/), which integrated 210 grams of of 18 ct yellow gold. In 2025, another version of the car, the [Black Rose Batur](https://www.voxelmatters.com/2-1m-bentley-batur-features-3d-printed-rose-gold/), integrated 3D printed components made from rose gold, including the drive mode selector, an insert marker on the steering wheel and organ stop vent controls. In both cases, the automotive company worked with [Cooksongold](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/cooksongold/), a Birmingham-based specialist in 3D printing precious metals.
