On the evening (EST) of November 15th, NASA will provide coverage (see video above) of the upcoming prelaunch and launch activities for the agency’s SpaceX Commercial Crew-1 mission with astronauts to the International Space Station. In the meantime, you can sit back and enjoy the 3D printed replica of the 4-seat Commercial Crew Dragon capsule, created by Rolls Royce engineer An Duong on his Morethan3D portal.

This is the first crew rotation flight of the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft on a Falcon 9 rocket following certification by NASA for regular flights to the space station as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program.

The launch is targeted for 7:49 p.m. EST Saturday, Nov. 14, from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Crew Dragon is scheduled to dock to the space station at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 15. Launch, prelaunch activities, and docking will air live on NASA Television and the agency’s website.

The Crew-1 flight will carry Crew Dragon Commander Michael Hopkins, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialist Shannon Walker, all of NASA, along with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Mission Specialist Soichi Noguchi to the space station for a six-month science mission.

An Duong’s new celebrative replica, named Dragon-MJ, is a bigger version of the DRAGON-MS model, it also has plenty of new features that were not available on the earlier version. Duong creates these models to inspire more children both to become astronauts, and also to pursue STEM careers when they grow up.

Like previous models, you can either download the STL files and make it yourself on your 3D printer or (2) order the 3D printed model directly from Morethan3D. If you choose to order the 3D printed model, you can also decide whether you want to receive it fully assembled or as a kit (so you can assemble the model yourself). The cost is £60 for all printable files (warning: The DRAGON-MJ is a large model and you need a printer with a build volume of at least 210x210x200mm to print this model) or as a 3D printed product for £520 (shipping not included).
