Nanovia launches Nanovia Mt(Metal) and Nanovia Cr (Ceramic) filaments

French filament manufacturer Nanovia is introducing Nanovia Mt(Metal) and Nanovia Cr (Ceramic), a new range of metallic and ceramic filaments for extrusion 3D printing and sintering. Using a standard 3D printer this new range of filaments allows for the creation of dense metallic and ceramic pieces, which can be sintered in a post-processing final step.

This final post-processing step is aided by the company’s patented technology, without requiring chemical debinding and a retraction of only 10-15%, depending on the piece’s geometry and size. Nanovia Mt and Nanovia Cr additive fabrication offers a cost-effective alternative to subtractive production methods (tooling, milling, etc) for both metals and ceramics.

Leveraging standard extrusion processes, Mt and Cr filaments enable for the creation of structures that are only possible via 3D printing, with materials that are still relatively rare and difficult to process. The “green” pieces and be subtractively processes before sintering, thus allowing for hybrid fabrication methods.

The new materials are available both as 500-gram and 2-kilogram spools for additive fabrication, but also in pellet for MIM and CIM injection molding fabrication. Nanovia Mt Inox 316L is already available now on the Nanovia.tech website and it will be soon joined soon by Nanovia Cr SiC (silicon carbide), an extremely tough material that can resist temperatures up to 2000°C.

More soon to become available materials include Nanovia Mt Inconel, Nanovia Mt Titanium, Nanovia Cr Alumine (alumina), Nanovia Cr Zircone (Zirconia)
